DENIM AND DIAMONDS
Thank you to all our St. Peter’s Families, teachers and donors for supporting our FIRST Parent Spring Social. This event was developed to replace the usual “cookie dough” and “gift wrap” fundraiser. Even though we did not make our projected goal of $25,000, we did not loose any money. As I walked around the room, everyone was laughing, smiling, socializing, dancing, bidding and just having a great time! Sometimes this is what we need is a place to let loose, relax and enjoy ourselves.
I would like to thank the entire PTC Board for their participation, quick planning and numerous donations. Thank you to our Denim and Diamond Chair Persons; Martha Rodriguez and Dawn Bryan for getting the ball rolling. Martha also spent countless days and nights personally creating the center pieces and obtained the Lonestar beer donation. Dawn helped organize the Reverse Raffle and researching the rules, plus Silent Auction prizes. Also thank you to Elisa Garcia for tracking ticket sales and numbering all our ping pong balls. In addition, I need to thank Judi Marshal for her food donation of shrimp and contacting HEB for the fruit and veggie donations. Thank you to Terisita Ayala for her donation of Yucan meatballs, plus and Olivia Trevino for contacting Azuca and obtaining their food donation.
I would like to recognize Carlos Zapata (Swirl) for designing the Denim and Diamond poster, fliers and tickets for the event. Thanks to John Stepan for obtaining the wine donation from SeaZars and Monte Sur Winery of Chile; along with Mike Valdes for securing the Margarita Machine from the Margarita Man and Shiner Beer.
Thank you to Pastor Eddy Morales for being so supportive and allowing us to hold this event. Principal Ann Lauder and Assistant Principal, Jeanette Salinas for supporting this event; along with the many teachers that purchased tickets and came to the event. In addition, thank you to Chris Reyes for helping us with the event setup and cleanup.
Also, thank you to Becky Pawelek for organizing and running the Silent Auction and coordinating the baskets with all the Homeroom parents, they were gorgeous!!! We can not forget to thank all our Homeroom parents for gathering the donations and putting together the baskets. In addition a special thanks to Becky Finely for assisting us with baskets, parish donations and loaning us needed items for the Silent Auction.
We can not forget our table sponsors Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio, National Pest Control and Pauline Vargas for selling the most tickets helping to make the event a success!

WRITING WORKSHOP High School/ College Prep Writing An essay can have many purposes, but the basic structure is the same no matter what. You may be writing an essay to argue for a particular point of view or to explain the steps necessary to complete a task. Either way, your essay will have the same basic format. If you follow a few simple steps, you will find that the essay almost writes itself. You will be responsible only for supplying ideas, which are the important part of the essay anyway.
First, build the desire and confidence to write. Second; give students the tools with which to accomplish the task.
