Since 1926, St. Peter Prince of the Apostles School has been committed to
academic excellence and Christian moral values. For the past 79 years the school
has flourished and continues to grow due to the commitment and love of the
parents, staff and community.
On Monday, September 19, 2005, St. Peter Prince of the Apostles School was
selected as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence for the second time.
This commendation is a prestigious award presented by the United States
Department of Education. This year only three schools in Bexar County met the
criteria to receive the award: Atonement Academy, St. Luke’s Episcopal School
and St. Peter Prince of the Apostles. Nationally, only 50 private schools were
selected to receive this distinction.
The No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private
K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that
demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement and it rewards schools that
score in the top 10 percent on national assessments. Students at St. Peter
Prince of the Apostles School consistently score in the top 10 percent on their
standardized tests.
Texas Commissioner of Education, Shirley J. Neeley praised the schools "We are
very proud of these No Child Left Behind—Blue Ribbon Schools…They have worked
hard to earn this award by keeping the main thing the main thing—the children
they proudly serve. These schools excelled in their performance and I would like
to congratulate the students, teachers, administrators, parents and board
members of these schools. I offer my heartfelt congratulations to them for the
hard work and dedication that made this prestigious award possible."
