Barbara Bibb

I was raised in Port Aransas, Texas with my mother and grandmother. My grandmother was one of the first to settle that area and so I grew up in a pretty primitive house, luxurious, if you asked my grandmother. But being in Port Aransas had its advantages, the beach and a small town. There I developed a love of nature that I still carry with me today. I also grew up in a large Italian family with many aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins. This gave me a sense of how important family is and particularly the child. From those first years is where I feel my love for children and teaching has come.

I live now in North San Antonio with my daughter, 16 years, and my son, 12 years, my cat Tabathia, and my dog, Ginger. My daughter attends Churchill High School and is having a great experience in her sophomore year. My son has just entered into sixth grade at Bradley Middle School. I am finishing my Master’s degree in early childhood and elementary education at the University of the Incarnate Word. I finished my BA in education at UIW in May of 2005, following 3years of a Biology degree at SWT in the early 1990’s.

My hobbies are varied depending on the year and what I have time and money for in my life. This year I have started playing tennis on a ladies league at Alamo Heights, for competition, and these ladies are serious about winning. I am having fun and enjoying getting my tennis game back from high school. I enjoy an active lifestyle of bike riding, swimming, hiking, camping, and I love dancing.

I love traveling to anywhere different then Texas. I grew up in Texas and although I am glad to call it home, the world is a great playground. I have been to New Hampshire, Oregon, Washington, California, Wyoming, New Mexico, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Cancun Mexico, Cozumel Mexico, and am planning a trip to Europe this summer with my daughter.

Gardening is also something I like to do at home and hopefully we can do some of that here with the K3 class.

Thank you for the time with your little ones; I am truly honored to serve in this way. They are such happy and creative creatures, I learn about the love and grace of God everyday working here with the K3 children.

Blessed Be

Ms. Bibb
