University of the Incarnate Word   St. Peter Prince of the Apostles receives second Blue Ribbon

St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic School was among two local Catholic institutions recognized this week as 2005 No Child Left Behind—Blue Ribbon Schools by the United States Department of Education.  St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles will announce their award at a press conference on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 pm in the Parish Hall (112 Marcia Place).

The only San Antonio area schools to make the coveted list were St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles, The Atonement Academy and St. Luke’s Episcopal School. No San Antonio area public schools were recognized. St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic School, a two-time winner of the award, was previously recognized in 1985-1986.

The No Child Left BehindBlue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic and consistent gains in student achievement. It also rewards schools whose students, regardless of background, score in the top 10 percent on national assessments.
